Shaping a strong, healthy, connected community
I AM THRILLED to have been re-elected to continue working alongside our amazing community representing the Connewarre ward as a City of Greater Geelong councillor.
Living on the Bellarine Peninsula is a privilege I never take for granted.
My partner and I moved to Barwon Heads 23 years ago, drawn by its stunning natural environment and the warmth of its community.
Initially, we were on our way to Western Australia in our Kombi with our two dogs, but when we arrived on the Bellarine, we knew we had found home.
Since then, we’ve raised two children, participated in countless community activities and recently made the move to Ocean Grove.
I love joining the early morning ocean swimmers at Ocean Grove and exploring the unique wetlands and landscapes of the Connewarre Ward.
As a family we have spent years volunteering in local sports, performing arts, community gardens, local sustainability festivals and groups and at school.
I am passionate about championing initiatives that bring people together such as local singing groups, the Arts Hub, Friends of the Bluff, Feed Me Bellarine and Farm My School.
These are just a few examples of the remarkable organisations that foster a sense of belonging in our local community.
We’re experiencing significant population growth in our region and, together, we can ensure that we have the necessary investments in infrastructure and services to support our growing community.
It’s also crucial that we work together to develop clear policies and actions that will protect our beautiful environment for generations to come.
I am proud to have been elected to stand alongside my community to advocate for this work as we continue to shape a strong, healthy and connected community.
Professionally, my background as a social worker in community and government sectors has given me insight into the challenges people face and the strengths they show.
For the past decade, I’ve been part of Geelong’s public health system, supporting individuals and families during some of the most vulnerable times of their lives.
During this time, I have developed and delivered services to support young people to remain in education, to secure housing and that foster good mental health, safety and independence.
This work has deepened my understanding of the diverse needs of our community.
I am also proud to be part of the vibrant arts community in Geelong and have worked with groups like Blink Dance Theatre as an actor, writer and producer.
Arts and culture are vital to our identity, and I am determined to support projects that align with Council’s Clever and Creative aspirations.
As your Councillor, I am here to listen, collaborate and advocate for initiatives that improve our community’s well-being.
Together, we can ensure the Connewarre ward and the broader Geelong region remain vibrant, inclusive and sustainable places to live, work and thrive.
Thank you for electing me to represent you. I look forward to working with you to make a positive difference to our community’s future.
Have a wonderful summer and festive period, and I look forward to heading down to the Bellarine’s glorious beaches over the break.
