Sharks looking to snap up new players

March 7, 2018 BY

Bellarine Sharks Soccer Club is providing local junior sporting opportunities in St Leonards and the Northern Bellarine.

BELLARINE Sharks Soccer Club will host a registration day this weekend as it continues to look for some new players.

The club was formed in 2004 by club president Murray Hall out of a need for more local junior sporting opportunities in St Leonards and the Northern Bellarine.

The club has teams for the under 7s to 11s and a senior team, but is looking for players up to the age of 12 and coaches to help develop the junior players.

“We conducted several free soccer programs prior to Christmas within the community and with the help of Football Federation Victoria, are running programs at local primary school in the area,” club vice-president Bobbie Evans said.

“In 2018, we have also became a Club Victory member, which allows our players the opportunity to be involved in Melbourne Victory activities.

“This included walking around the ground prior to the Matildas vs Japan game and playing at half-time during the Melbourne Victory vs Central Coast Mariners game. Both were held in Geelong.”

The senior team also won the division 2 title in 2015.

Evans said the club had welcomed Platinum sponsor Neville Richards, as well as TYD Automotive, which was a Gold sponsor.

The registration day is on Sunday March 11 at the club’s home ground, St Leonards reserve, from 9am to 11am.
