SHIPS AHOY: Community open day to celebrate grand opening
THE community is encouraged to come and celebrate the opening of the new state-of-the-art $15.9 million Queenscliff Ferry Terminal at a special community open day this Saturday, April 22.
From 10am-2pm, a range of activities will be on offered onsite including live music, roving entertainment, puppet shows, balloon artistry and face painting.
Local gin, beer and wine producers will also be on hand to liven up the passenger lounge and café, while executive chef Michael Demagistris will be running an exclusive “Savor the Flavors” cooking demonstration.
Known for his passion for seasonal and locally sourced ingredients, Mr Demagistris’ commitment to sustainability and exceptional quality will be showcased in a tantalizing sneak peek of his new food offering TARRA, which will be launched onsite.
Searoad Ferries chief executive officer Matt McDonald said the community celebration event would be a fantastic way to thank the local community and celebrate the facilities opening after 15 years of planning.
“The community day will provide an opportunity to showcase the new building as a whole.
“It is the result of a comprehensive masterplan aimed at improving passenger capacity and efficiency of the ferry operation, increasing the range of facilities on offer, and enhancing the quality of the passenger experience.
