Sky-high plans for CBD rooftop bar
LITTLE Malop Street could soon have a new rooftop bar under a proposal submitted for planning approval.
A recently registered business called Now Group – which lists its administrative headquarters at the site of Murphy’s Geelong in Newtown – is seeking approval to create a café and two-level watering hole with bistro and rooftop terrace.
The ground floor would operate as a restaurant and café for up to 200 patrons, trading from 7am until late.
The level-one bar premises would include a front par and partially open-air bistro with a combined capacity of 400 people.
The top level would include a cocktail bar and rooftop terrace with room for 200 people. Both late-night licenses would be until 3am on Friday and Saturday and 1am on other nights.
Proponents say the establishment would add to the thriving central Geelong hospitality precinct for a net community benefit
“The proposed changes of land use are considered and appropriate land uses for the Property which achieve the objectives and accord with the strategies of the state and local planning policies.”
The City of Greater Geleong is advertising the plans, which are open for public comment until January 8.
