Spiller appointed acting CEO at Borough
THE Borough of Queenscliffe has elected Kelvin Spiller OAM as acting CEO, taking over the role from Martin Gill while he takes indefinite personal leave.
At a special council meeting the Borough unanimously resolved on Wednesday last week to appoint Mr Spiller effective immediately for a minimum term of eight weeks.
Mr Spiller brings extensive leadership experience to his new role, having held nine CEO positions across local government, water and the disability sector, as well as a tenure as CEO of the City of Greater Geelong between 2015 and 2018.
The acting CEO said he could not wait to get started and is “highly motivated and ready to take on the challenges that undoubtedly come with a role such as this one”.
Mr Spiller outlined his specific focus will be on advancing the implementation of the council plan for the current financial year.
He will also work to progress the CEO’s work program and “support staff throughout the organisation and advising council when required across a broad range of matters”.
Mayor Isabelle Tolhurst said council was thrilled to welcome Mr Spiller on board in his new role.
“We undertook a comprehensive process to ensure we appointed the right candidate for this interim position,” Ms Tolhurst said.
“Highly recommended, we are certain that Mr Spiller has the experience and commitment necessary to guide the Borough through this period.”
