Stars shine bright at The Gordon
The Gordon has celebrated the exceptional talents of its students in hairdressing, beauty therapy, and barbering at their annual Shining Stars event.
The event took place at The Gordon’s own Davidson Restaurant, drawing over 130 friends, family members, peers, and employers, all united to recognise the hard work of these aspiring professionals.
Shining Stars, a significant occasion on The Gordon’s calendar, showcased emerging talent and acknowledged the hard work and dedication of students across various study modes – from on-campus to apprenticeships and traineeships.
The highlight of the evening was the announcement of the student of the year awards.
Azizeh Maher was honoured in Beauty Therapy, Grace Morrison in Hairdressing, and Gomer Mendoza in Barbering, each earning accolades for their exceptional skill and dedication.
In addition to these top honours, over 50 other students received awards, reflecting the diversity and talent within The Gordon’s student body.
Special achievements were also recognised, including Meaghan Vecoli receiving the Andrea Abbott Memorial Award for outstanding dedication and kindness, and Olivia Huntington winning the People’s Choice Award for her creative work in a hair project competition.
Motivational speaker Sean Purcell inspired the audience with his empowering message to “Build a Life with Purpose.”
The evening was a celebration of student achievement and recognition of the importance of family, community and industry partnerships.
This event underscored the bright future awaiting these rising stars in their chosen professions.
