Strawberry Fair offers blissful time for all ages
STRAWBERRY taste sensations to cater for all taste buds will be on offer at Wallington Primary School’s Strawberry Fair this weekend.
On Sunday, there will be pavlovas, choc-dipped strawberries, pancakes, Devonshire tea and classic cups of strawberries and cream.
But if strawberries aren’t your thing, there will be plenty of other culinary delights to tempt.
Wallington families have been working tirelessly to stock their cake stall with many scrumptious items both sweet and savoury. There is even a competition for the best strawberry-themed creation, so keep an eye out for that.
There will be a live auction on the main stage at noon, with some amazing items up for grabs and also a silent auction that runs throughout the day.
“We are blown away year after year at the generosity and kindness of individuals and businesses in our area,” organisers said.
“A lot of the success of our fair is due to this and we as a school community are truly grateful. What a wonderful place to live.”
Local talent featured throughout the day include Dazzling Dan, 13-year-old singer/songwriter Tom Meadows, Sam Hanson and the 10 High Fy Band, Friday’s Muse and The Geelong Lyric Society bringing the cast from their upcoming show “Song Contest – The Almost Eurovision Experience”, which is bound to get toes tapping.
For the kids there will be rides, showbags, animal nursery, fairy floss, and while they are entertained the adults can browse through almost 50 market stalls.
Miss Berry Bliss, the event’s lovely mascot will be there, roaming around and always happy to pose for photos.
Make sure you pop by the produce stall and grab some homemade strawberry jam or see the Grade 5 and 6 pupils who will be more than happy to sell you a strawberry plant or two to take home.
For the safety of all patrons, this is a smoke-free event, and strictly no dogs.
The Wallington Strawberry Fair at Wallington Primary School is on Sunday March 4 from 10am to 4pm.
Entry is by gold coin donation.
