A WINTER Ball organised by Catholic (student) Leaders of Geelong Schools (CLOGS) has raised an impressive $9800 for Queenscliff children’s charity Cottage by the Sea.
Student leaders from Clonard College Geelong, St Ignatius College, Sacred Heart College and St Joseph’s College presented Bill Kerr from Cottage by the Sea with the cheque during a morning tea last Friday.
St Ignatius College Bellarine school captain Sam Salisbury said about 800 year 12 students from the four Geelong Catholic Secondary schools attended the formal, which was held at the Croatian Community Centre.
“A few months ago we had a year 12 formal with the idea of raising money for charity,” Sam said.
“This time we chose Cottage by the Sea and had to organise the formal, and by doing so we managed to raise $9804.
“Everyone in the CLOGS region, which includes Clonard College Geelong, St Ignatius College, Sacred Heart College and St Joseph’s College, worked together to create the very special night that we had.
“It was formal dress, we were there to have a good time and raise money for a worthy charity.”
Sam said the CLOGS group chose Cottage by the Sea because they wanted to support a local charity.
“Cottage by the Sea was perfect because it is about youth, it’s connected to us and it’s local, and it seemed like a really good charity to choose.”
