Students hit the Otways

March 13, 2019 BY

VCE students from Saint Ignatius College are taking to the Otways as part of their outdoor and environmental studies.

VCE students from Saint Ignatius College undertaking Unit 1 Outdoor and Environmental Studies have been busy exploring the Otways, gaining valuable first-hand knowledge about the different types of environments found in the area.

Three groups of students walked along the Great Ocean Walk, while one group cycled through the Otways and around the MTB trails of Forrest.

Outdoor Education teacher Mr Byron Mitchell said the Great Ocean Walk from Apollo Bay to the 12 Apostles is a “world class walk”, featuring a range of environment types including wet forest, coastal and heathland.

“The Otways is an excellent location of outdoor and environmental studies for students to study the environments as well as their own motivations and responses to natural environment,” he said.
