ST LEONARDS Tennis Club is embracing its reputation as a championship winning club and is looking to attract more members to join it on the ride.

The Bellarine Peninsula sporting club recently won its Section 4 premiership for the Tennis Geelong region and will be moving into Section 1 for the 2025-2026 summer season.

More than 25 members are presently signed up to play, but the club’s committee is hoping to get an additional team up and going for the coming season.

Competition secretary Rachel Knez said there had been plenty of excitement around the club following the success of its first competition team in 15 years..

“Fantastically, in our second season back in competition we won that premiership!

“We want to get the word out that St Leonards Tennis Club is alive and happening and we want to grow it as much as we can.

“We’ve got water views, it [the town] is filled with beautiful people and places, and it’s definitely worthwhile coming to play for us.”

Ms Knez said the club was also eager to attract more social players.

“We want tennis players of all abilities. We offer social hits on Monday, Wednesday and Friday, and we include a barbecue for each player on Mondays,” she said.
