Successful recipients share in more than $28,300
A COMMUNITY organisation dedicated to supporting the growth and enhancement of Point Lonsdale and Queenscliff has handed out more than $28,300 in grants and sponsorship.
The Queenscliff Point Lonsdale Community Enterprise (QPLCE) presented the successful recipients with their cheques last week.
They included the Geelong Steam PreservationSociety ($1,910) for equipment to help maintain all on-ground works, the Monday Knitting Club ($500) for new yarn and wool used to make toys for the needy and the Point Lonsdale Surf Life Saving Club ($3,000) for new furniture for the club house.
Also successful were the Coastguard, which received $1,500 towards a new solar panel for the boat, and the Community Garden ($1,800) to establish a new hot house, which is used by the Queenscliff Primary School children too.
The Queenscliff Enviro Forum received weeding and spraying for Citizen Park, the Lighthouse Theatre Group got $2,000 for new Meccano sets that can be easily put together and pulled apart, the Uniting Church received money for on-ground works for a community space and the Historical Museum got $1,536 to upgrade their online network storage for important historical data and archives.
The Maritime Museum received $1,000 for the purchase of mannequins to bring to life their exhibits, and Queenscliff Primary School received $3,000 for much needed air conditioning.
