CR TRENT Sullivan from the City of Greater Geelong has been appointed to the board of Regional Development Australia (RDA) Barwon South West.

RDA Barwon South West collaborates with all levels of government, regional leaders and businesses to identify opportunities to leverage federal government programs that will increase economic activity in the wider region.

It engages with all local government areas in Barwon South West – Greater Geelong, Queenscliffe, Surf Coast, Colac Otway, Corangamite, Moyne, Warrnambool, Southern Grampians, and Glenelg – to align regional priorities and drive economic development to meet economic challenges and seize emerging opportunities.

Cr Sullivan, who represents Leopold Ward, said the RDA appointment enabled him to represent the interests of the Geelong region to pursue his agenda of driving economic growth and innovation.

“As a councillor and former mayor I have always been committed to helping our region be clever, creative and enterprising and these are goals I share with RDA.

“We must be forward looking and adaptive to take advantage of the great opportunity for transformation over the coming years so we can continue to thrive.

“The new role works well with my current responsibilities on the council, and particularly my focus on economic development.”

The RDA Barwon South West committee comprises experienced individuals with global, national, and local expertise in advanced manufacturing, digital capability, agriculture, education, tourism, and energy.

It is presently chaired by Great Ocean Road Regional Tourism general manager Liz Price.
