Support emergency services with a snag

AUSTRALIANS will again have the chance to help raise much needed funds through Bunnings’ annual Emergency Services Volunteers barbecue, which will take place at all Bunnings stores this Saturday.

In Torquay, people have been encouraged to head to Bunnings Warehouse Torquay between 9am and 4pm to buy a snag or make a donation, with all funds raised going directly to support the Torquay fire brigade and Torquay’s State Emergency Service (SES) Unit.

CFA chief officer Steve Warrington said he was always excited at this time of year as it was great to see the community come together to help support emergency services.

“Fire and emergency services play a crucial role in our community during fire season and throughout the year.

“Please be sure to take some time to talk to your family and friends about what to do if a fire starts at your house or nearby.

“Make sure you follow the daily Fire Danger Rating forecast and always monitor conditions on hot, dry, windy days and leading up to them.

“We would like to thank Bunnings and their customers for their ongoing support and for providing CFA with an opportunity to support our volunteers. Their resilience, team work and dedication to protect lives and property across the community is invaluable.”

Victoria SES chief executive officer Stephen Griffin said this summer was such a busy time of year for volunteers, and any support was greatly appreciated.

“VICSES would like to thank Bunnings for always supporting our volunteers and their local communities. This fundraiser is another great example of that.”

Bunnings Warehouse Torquay complex manager Marina Stefanovic said the barbecue was a terrific way for team members and all Australians to show their appreciation for these everyday heroes and the important work they carry out by on a day to day basis.

“The team is looking forward to staffing the barbecue and doing their bit to help raise funds and awareness at such a critical time of year for CFA and VICSES.”
