Supporters pack out Read The Play breakfast
HUNDREDS of supporters and donors gathered at GMHBA Stadium’s Presidents Room last week for the annual Read The Play Fundraiser Breakfast.
Featuring special guest speaker Kath Koschel, the event also saw Read The Play’s general manager Michelle Gerdtz give an update on past and future initiatives.
Ms Gerdtz thanked all guests for their attendance following the event.
“A heartfelt thank you to everyone who purchased raffle tickets, socks, and auction items,” she said.
“The funds raised from this event will go directly towards supporting the vital work of Read the Play, ensuring we continue to provide essential mental health education and support to young people in our community.
“Additionally, I want to extend our gratitude to the Read the Play Ambassadors who attended on the day – Claudia Gunjaca, Sarah Elsworthy, and Emily Sutcliffe. Your presence and support mean so much to us.
“Thank you to presenting partner Burke Britton Financial Partners and event sponsors WorkSafe and K Rock. Amazing events like this can’t happen without your support.”
Ms Koschel, a former professional cricketer and author, spoke about almost losing her ability to walk twice and the loss of her partner to suicide.
She also touched on her not-for-profit the Kindness Factory, which is based in three countries and has seen millions of acts of kindness logged.
More than $3,000 in fundraising was raised from auction items alone, facilitated by Buxton Highton’s Ben Riddle.
