SMALL businesses across the Geelong region could benefit from major energy cost savings with a new state government program unveiled today.

The Small Business Energy Saver Program, an initiative of Sustainability Victoria, offers an average savings of $1000 with the purchase price and installation costs of items such as heat pumps, air conditioners, and refrigerated display cabinets.

The program aims to get small businesses in retail, hospitality, accommodation, healthcare, professional services, and small-scale manufacturing to upgrade to more energy efficient equipment that’s cheaper to use.

Today’s webinar, hosted by social enterprise group Greenlight in conjunction with Geelong Sustainability, will brief business owners on the program.

Greenlight program manager Steve Turnock said the program offered important financial benefits for small businesses with less than 19 full-time equivalent employees, as they recover from the impact of the pandemic.

“We recognise that time is precious for small business owners so the scope of the program will be outlined in a half-hour webinar that they can watch from the convenience of their office or workplace,” Mr Turnock said.

The webinar is today, October 21, from 3pm to 3.30pm, with bookings and more information at greenlight.org.au/events.
