Sweet 21 for Curlewis Golf Club ranking
MANAGEMENT at Curlewis Golf Club is in good spirits following the announcement Curlewis Golf Club ranked 21st in Golf Australia’s Top 100 Public Access Courses.
Club general manager Jamie Brigden was quick to praise the course management team for their tireless work in maintaining the course for members and visitors, stating the club takes great pride in Golf Australia’s rankings release.
“A lot of the credit needs to go to the course superintendent Rob Bradley and his course team,” Mr Brigden said.
“Rob will have been with us for 30 years in a few months’ time and it’s a credit to the work he has done of the past 12 months given the difficult circumstances. A lot of the kudos need to go to him for sure.”
Currently under the guise of committed president Bernie den Besten, women’s president Vickie Carnie, captain Tim Ludowyk and women’s captain Jill Pring, the ranking provided an acknowledgement of how far the club had come course wise across Australia.
Curlewis Golf Club recently ranked #39 in The Golf Course Guide and #69 in Australian Golf Digest’s lists for course rankings.
The Biennial list of rankings from Golf Australia provides a breakdown of the very best courses in all corners of the nation, that every golfer can play.
Mr Brigden noted the partnership between the club and course architect Mike Clayton has provided important dividends to all 18 holes.
Curlewis’ membership numbers reflect the increasing quality of the course, currently sitting at 732.
“Alongside Mike, we have made multiple changes to the course for the betterment of the players, and maybe in the next two years or so, we can make a push into the top 20,” he added.
“From our course management team, backed up by the Pro Shop, we have a terrific group from top to bottom.”
The club has a limited number of vacancies available for seven-day memberships, which can be obtained quickly at www.curlewisgolf.com.au/pages/application
