Tackers sailing program on in Barwon Heads

December 12, 2018 BY

The Barwon Heads Sailing Association is hosting a tackers program to get kids excited by the joys of sailing out on the water

IN CELEBRATION of its 50th year of operation, the Barwon Heads Sailing Association is looking to expand through a Sailing Australia training program for children after recognising its ageing membership.

What originally began as a family sailing club for fun on the Barwon estuary has since evolved with a changing demographic, prompting the initiative to get young locals inspired by the joys of sailing.

Sailing Australia’s five-day training program for children aged seven to 12 years provides all equipment, including boats and professional trainers. The accredited introductory program costs $330 per child.

All participants will receive 12 months free family membership to the Barwon Heads Sailing Association.

If the inaugural program is successful, the club hopes to continue hosting little tackers sailing courses each year.

The program will run over the 2019 summer school holidays from Monday January 21 until Friday January 25 at the Barwon Heads Sailing Association, corner Ozone Road and Flinders Parade, Barwon Heads.
