ABOUT 100 kids and adults put their skating and scooting skills to the test during an inaugural competition at Leopold Skate Park at the weekend.

The Leopold Skate and Scoot competition, organised by Neighbourhood Watch Leopold (NWL) and the City of Greater Geelong’s Youth Development Unit (YDU), attracted a great mix of entrants – including more than 70 kids and 30 adults – and spectators on Saturday.

Families from Grovedale, Torquay and Waurn Ponds competed, with winners taking home some great scoot and skate gear including skate boards, helmets and wheels.

The competition was sponsored by NumFish and Speakys, while Goodalls Butchers sponsored the sausages for the sizzle – which members from NWL cooked – and Air with Flair applied temporary tattoos.

Organisers said one mum thanked the NHW and YDU teams for holding a great family oriented event.

YDU will partner with NHW for more competitions later this year.
