Team Mortgage Choice wins fishing classic
THE fourth Riverview Fishing Classic last week raised more than $5,000 for the Ocean Grove Surf Life Saving Club.
Held at the St Leonards boat ramp on December 29, 13 teams took part in the competition, with 40 people fishing.
Team Mortgage Choice Centre, comprising Chris Howitt, Shannon Browne and Mick Amy, won the title with an average 14.33 fish caught per person, while Team Hansford won the NAFA Award for least fish caught.
Team Krisp caught the biggest fish, a 54-centimetre flathead.
Event president Jim Pound said all up, competitors caught 260 flathead, 17 gurnard, nine squid, seven salmon, seven whiting, two cuttlefish, two wrasse, one octopus, one shark and one scallop.
The Riverview Fishing Classic is a fishing competition organised by a group of people from the Riverview Family Caravan Park, with money raised going to the Ocean Grove Surf Life Saving Club.
