The Bellarine honours Australia’s fallen

April 26, 2018 BY

THOUSANDS attended services across the Bellarine yesterday to remember all Australians who served and died in war and on operational service.

Anzac Day on April 25 marks the anniversary of the first major military action fought by Australian and New Zealand forces during World War I.

Ocean Grove, Barwon Heads, Portarlington, Drysdale, St Leonards, Point Lonsdale and Queenscliff all hosted commemorative services, and many also hosted marches.

The rivalry between Drysdale Football and Netball Club and Portarlington Demons Football and Netball Club continued with an annual clash, this year held at Mortimer Oval.

Large crowds of supporters come out each year to mark the occasion and to cheer on their netball and football teams.

The seniors game was also preceded by an Anzac Day service.
