The Lehenda Ukrainian Dance Company will grace GPAC’s stage with their world premiere production on March 3 for one show only.

Following a successful international tour of Kazka; their latest show Legend encompasses the beauty and grace of the colourful Ukrainian culture – and the strength and tenacity of the Cossack spirit.

Legend – Stories of a Nation tells stories of the many regions within Ukraine, using original choreography by Merited Artist of Ukraine – Melanie Moravski Dechnicz.

The dancers bring these regions to life with energy and excitement, with guest artist Norm Stanley sharing stories of our Australian nation.

Maria Zhdanko from LUDC said the company is based in Melbourne with close to 50 dancers and crew volunteering their time to perform the shows.

“Having performed through Canada, North America, Australia, at White Night, Moomba, Pako Festival, Piers Festival, Premier Gala and more, we’re excited to be back in Geelong to bring Legend to life again,” Ms Zhdanko said.

“We will be performing at Pako Festival the weekend prior and hope to excite the audience into seeing our full-length production.

“Performed in the true spirit and incredible acrobatic skill of Ukrainian dance, we share the stories of our nation, exciting and inspiring audiences with the essence of our culture.”
