The Geelong Wine Show celebrates 20th anniversary Comedian, MC,
THE 20th anniversary of the Geelong Wine Show is being held from October 16-17 at Waurn Ponds Estate, bringing together producers from across the Geelong wine region to showcase the quality and diversity of their wines.
A standout regional wine show in Australia, the Geelong Wine Show aims to promote excellence in wine growing in the region and broadly promote the region to the wine trade and wine drinking public.
Jo Wealands of Wine Geelong said that the event also provided an essential benchmarking opportunity in the wine industry, with esteemed winemaker and wine show judge Robert Paul returning as chief judge for 2018.
“We place a key emphasis on using the Geelong Wine Show as a learning and development opportunity for the region’s winegrowers.
“Entrants are provided with written feedback that can be drawn upon for future wine-making decisions.
“An opportunity is also provided through the Associate Judging Program for an aspiring Geelong winemaker to obtain a mentored judging experience both at the Geelong and Victorian Wine Shows in 2018.”
The Geelong Wine Show culminates in an awards dinner to present and showcase the medal winners.
Hosted by popular comedian and presenter Ash Williams, the dinner will be held at Truffleduck on October 20 with a limited number of tickets available.
The public will also have the opportunity to discover the gold medal-winning wines with a public tasting event held at iconic venue Geelong Cellar Door, in the recently rejuvenated Little Malop Street precinct.
Last year saw more than 55 Geelong wine producers enter the Geelong Wine Show with 19 gold medals awarded to wines scoring 95 points or more, and 107 medals awarded in total.
