The Q Train steams towards award finals
LOCAL tourism drawcard The Q Train is chugging toward statewide honours again after being named a finalists in the 2025 Restaurant and Catering Hostplus Awards for Excellence.
The Drysdale business is a finalist for a second consecutive year in the tourism restaurant category of the annual awards program.
The Restaurant and Catering Hostplus Awards for Excellence recognise hospitality operators that consistently provide exceptional service and demonstrate culinary excellence in their respective fields.
The Q Train chief executive officer Marie-Claire Trotter said the team was thrilled to be recognised among the best providers in the state.

“We are really proud of the menus we’ve produced this year, and our service … One quick look at our reviews online shows how great our service and food really is.
“We pride ourselves on our commitment to showcasing the best produce from Geelong, the Bellarine and Otways both on your plate and out your window; you’re really getting a taste of the region.”
She said the recognition also reflected The Q Train’s commitment to inclusivity and excellence in customer service.
“[The Q Train] provides a unique tourism experience that is unparalleled anywhere else. Tourism is everyone’s business, and we are so glad to be recognised in this way.”

Other local award finalists included Mavs Greek Restaurant, Claribeaux on the Bellarine, Jack Rabbit, Higher Mark and Chartwells Geelong Grammar Corio.
National president of Restaurant and Catering Australia John Hart said the 2025 finalists reflect what makes Victoria and Tasmania stand out in the country’s food landscape.
“Our finalists showcase the consistency, passion, and professionalism that keep customers coming back.
“This region continues to lead with both innovation and tradition, and we’re proud to recognise the operators driving it forward.”
This year’s winners will be revealed at a black-tie gala dinner on September 1.
