The Sands to host PGA qualifier

THE Sands Torquay will next weekend host a qualifying event for the prestigious New Zealand Open.

The PGA Australia sanctioned event will take place on February 10 and see some of the country’s finest golfers vie for a spot in the premier international tournament.

The Sands Torquay golf course superintendent Keegan Powell and golf operations manager Mat Mackay.

 

The New Zealand Open is the second richest on the Australasian golfing calendar and attracts elite talent from across the globe.

Golf operations manager at The Sands Torquay, Mat Mackay said hosting the qualifier would not only highlight the quality of the course but reinforce its commitment to fostering a vibrant sporting culture.

“This is a fantastic achievement for The Sands and a testament to the hard work of our team and the support of our members.

The Sands Torquay will host the qualifier for the New Zealand Open on February 10.

 

“It’s an incredible honour to play a part in such a prestigious tournament, and we’re thrilled to showcase our world-class facilities to players and fans alike.”

The Sands Torquay members, guests and the wider community are all welcome to attend the top-tier golfing event.

The event will start at 7:30am.
