Theatre’s leading ladies to step out in Geelong

A trio of Australian musical theatre’s pre-eminent performers will join John Foreman’s 30-piece Australian Pops Orchestra on stage in Geelong next week.

For one night only, Lucy Durack, Caroline O’Connor and Silvie Paladino will come together for Leading Ladies, a dazzling concert of Broadway hits and fabulous show tunes.

As individual artists, each of these luminaries has a storied career extending from the glittering lights of Broadway to the West End, matched with an unmissable stage presence.

Durack, O’Connor and Paladino are undoubtedly some of Australia’s most beloved musical theatre exports, and will present an unrivalled tour de force.

Joined by musical mastermind John Foreman and his Australia Pops Orchestra, Leading Ladies is a concert like no other, exploring the songs, laughs and the triumphs of these three amazing performers and their highly regarded careers.

Durack starred as Glinda in the Australian production of Wicked and had top billing in Legally Blonde: The Musical and Shrek The Musical as well as television productions including Neighbours and The Masked Singer.

Caroline O’Connor’s stellar career includes her Olivier Award-nominated West End performance as Mabel in Mack and Mabel, Velma Kelly in Chicago on Broadway and her stunning tango in Baz Lurhman’s Academy Award-winning movie Moulin Rouge.

Silvie Paladino’s incredible career also spans the globe, from Eponine in Les Misérables in Australia, New Zealand and on London’s West End, then the role of Fantine, also in Les Miserables on the West End, to lead roles in Cats, Mamma Mia!, Miss Saigon and her popular appearances each Christmas on Channel Nine’s Carols by Candlelight.

Foreman is a musical director, pianist and composer, who has played integral roles behind the scenes of the likes of Australian Idol, Carols by Candlelight and the Sydney Orchestra’s 2000 Olympic opening ceremony.

Leading Ladies will be peformed at Costa Hall on February 17 from 7.30pm.

The show runs for 120 minutes with a 20-minute interval.
