THE Tin Shed – Barwon Grove Golf Club is celebrating their most successful Good Friday Appeal (GFA) fundraiser yet, amassing more than $100,000 in donations.

Thousands of people and local businesses dug deep last Friday to assist children and their families undertaking treatment at the Royal Children’s Hospital.

The day of festivities included plenty of major raffles and auctions, a sausage sizzle, face painting, food trucks and plenty more.

Thousands of people supported The Tin Shed Good Friday Appeal fundraiser.

The Tin Shed president Jamie McDonald said the community generosity on the day was extraordinary.

“It’s a big year for us, particularly in what has been a hard financial year for families.

“For a little community of a few thousand people to come away with $100,000 for the Children’s Hospital is pretty impressive.

“Just about all the local businesses supported it. They are just fantastic and never hesitate.”

All the funds will be directed toward local programs, including the transfer of sick local children.

The Tin Shed raised $100,000 for the Good Friday Appeal.

“They’ve guaranteed there’ll be a regional focus to spending because of our donation.

“It’s the most we’ve raised by a mile. I can’t tell you what happened on Friday – it just went berserk.”

Barwon Heads finished 10th in the regional community tally for the appeal, with Geelong and Torquay also making the top 15.

The broader appeal raised $23,822,792.
