Tin Shed ready to rattle for Good Friday fundraiser

PREPARATIONS are in full swing for the Barwon Grove Golf Club ahead of its bumper Good Friday Appeal fundraiser.

This year, The Tin Shed – the official club house of the Barwon Grove Golf Club – is hopeful of raising tens of thousands of dollars.

A small committee will be hosting a fun-filled family day on April 18.

Hundreds of people are expected to bid on silent auction and raffle prizes from more than 50 local businesses and services.

All funds raised will directly support locally ill children and their families through the Geelong Hospital and broader Good Friday Appeal.

The Tin Shed committee member Di Mathieson said it was lovely for people to know funds were going to people within their community.

“It makes us feel pretty good that it’ll go towards our kids and our grandkids. It’s locals helping locals.

“It’s a really exciting opportunity for to us achieve such a power of work for our small Barwon Heads township.”

Since turning its focus to the annual fundraiser in 2013, The Tin Shed has raised over $415,000 for the cause.

Last year alone, the event raised over $62,000.

“I’d like to think we do pretty well for a small town,” The Tin Shed president Jamie McDonald added.

“Our community helps us to punch well above our weight.”

Main prizes in this year’s auction include a $2,000 travel voucher, a seven-night trip to Bali, sporting memorabilia, hospitality, retail goods and more.

“It’s an amazing auction, we think it’s sure to be a very healthy year in terms of fundraising.

“There’ll be something for everyone on the day, food, drinks, face painting, and plenty more activities.”

You will be able to bid on items online until April 16 at 11:30pm.

The highest bid received at that time will be the starting bid on Good Friday.
