THE Tin Shed in Barwon Heads is setting $60,000 as their fundraising goal for its Good Friday Appeal to assist supporting the Royal Children’s Hospital.

Taking place on Friday, April 7 (Good Friday), the annual event hopes to attract more than 300 people to eclipse last year’s record breaking $61,465 effort.

Having fundraised for the appeal for the past ten years, members of The Tin Shed (also known as Barwon Grove Golf Club) are raring to go for another exciting mission to help those in need.

The Tin Shed is situated on Sheepwash Road in Barwon Heads.

“Over the last ten years we’ve raised over $200,000 for the Royal Children’s Hospital… we raised $61,000 last year and we’d like to think we can get to that level again,” The Tin Shed secretary Barry Williams said.

“We’ve already got about 42 items for the main auction at the value of $35,000 and we will also have a silent auction as well… donations have been coming in thick and fast.

“At the event we will also have a wine pour, a lucky dip tree and food trucks and face painting for the kids.

“Barwon Heads is not the retirement village it was [when the group formed] 40 years ago… it’s a mobile population that lives here… we hope to attract support from far and wide.”

To get behind the cause, the organising committee is asking the community for various donations, including sporting memorabilia, corporate gifts, accommodation and travel packages and much more.

“If people email us and tell us what they want to donate, then our committee can pick it up and make it happen,” Mr Williams said.

“All the donations thus far are already loaded up on our auction sites… that way we can promote the businesses that are helping us and it gives people an idea on what we’ve got.

“People can bid in advance of the day and then the bidding on April 7 will start at that online closing price.

“We are really looking forward to it all… hopefully the generosity will stay from last year.”
