Traffic halted after collision at major intersection

Police and ambulances have attended a multi-car crash at a major intersection in Belmont.

Two cars collided at the intersection of Torquay and Settlement roads just after 1.35pm on Wednesday.

Both vehicles sustained significant damage with a black Nissan coming to a stop on its roof in the south-bound lanes of Torquay Road.

 

 

An Ambulance Victoria spokesperson said two people were transported to hospital.

“Advanced Life Support (ALS) and Mobile Intensive Care Ambulance (MICA) paramedics attended the scene,” the spokesperson said.

“One patient was transported by road ambulance to Geelong University Public Hospital. One patient is being transported by road ambulance to The Royal Melbourne Hospital.”

Victoria Police have confirmed that no life-threatening injuries were sustained as a result of the crash.

VicEmergency listed the incident as a road rescue at 2.30pm with footage posted to Facebook showing Ambulance Victoria staff assisting an individual inside the flipped car.

Information provided by the Department of Transport and Planning advises motorists to respond to directions from the response crews and allow for extra travel time through the area.
