Trail Running Series to return to Anglesea
ENTRIES have opened to Australia’s most popular series of off-road runs – The Trail Running Series, which includes a race in Anglesea in September.
The Trail Running Series features a mix of five short distance trail runs at a range of wilderness locations from June through to October.
The series returns for an eighth year in 2018 with a new Saturday night race, some exciting course tweaks, new competitions and a whole lot more great wilderness running.
The races attract more than 1,200 runners from first timers through to elites.
Each event features a short course race that varies in length between 5km and 7km, a medium course race of between 10km and 15km and a long course race that starts at 15km and extends to 23km at its longest. Competitors can enter all races or choose just the races that suit them.
Race 4 at Anglesea on the Surf Coast on September 16 follows on from the action of the Surf Coast Century 100km Ultra Marathon of the day before, forming a real festival weekend of trail running, complete with a 1.9km Kids Run.
Event manager Sam Maffett said a large appeal of the series was that it allowed runners to become fully immersed in nature on little known trails, running down fun single tracks that pass through scenic landscapes located close to Melbourne.
“We wanted to create these opportunities for runners to enjoy trail running and the many benefits it can bring to theirs lives – the endorphins, the fitness and health and importantly the friendly social vibes and friendships.
“We’re so proud to be continuing the series into its eight year. It has brought trail running into the lives of so many new people over the years and we look forward to welcoming many more this year as well as the return of many familiar faces. We love this series and we can’t wait to kick things of this June for Race 1.”
