Trio to perform intimate concert in Point Lonsdale
CANBERRA-based songwriter Fred Smith together with Liz Frencham and Carl Pannuzzo will play an intimate concert in Point Lonsdale next week.
Organised by the Lighthouse Arts Collective, Fred, Liz (vocals and double bass) and Carl (piano & percussion) will perform songs from Fred’s extensive back catalogue along with new material from his most recent release Warries.
Fred’s double career – as a musician and a political advisor for the Australian Defence Forces has seen him spend the last 20 years working on peacekeeping missions in Afghanistan and the South Pacific.
The impact of this experience resulting in a rich catalogue of songs that powerfully capture the many confronting, humorous and heart-wrenching stories that can accompany a country at war.
In amongst his involvement with the Australian Defence Forces, Fred toured extensively through America and is a familiar face on the Australian festival circuit.
He has released close to eight records, predominately working solo although more recently he has collaborated with Liz and the Spooky Men’s Chorale.
ABC TV’s Australian Story ran a feature on Fred’s work as a diplomat and songwriter.
The feature was watched by more than one million viewers and was one of the most popular programs in the history of the series.
The concert will be held at New Hall, 11 Kirk Road, Point Lonsdale on Friday, May 3 at 7pm. Tickets cost $25 pre-booked or $30 at the door (subject to availability).
