TV series visits Leopold to feature childhood educator
CHANNEL 9’s Destination Happiness visited Leopold Community Hub to feature an early childhood educator in one of its episodes.
Geelong-born host Angie Hilton spoke with the City of Greater Geelong’s Michelle Travers about Ms Travers’ achievements and programs at Leopold Community Hub Kindergarten for the season 3 episode.
Destination Happiness serves as a resource for finding tips and tools for uplifting your life from the inside out, through gratitude, kindness, mindfulness and other relaxation methods.
Ms Travers has introduced learnings from the show into her daily program at the kindergarten.
She has implemented positive psychology, gratitude, and kindness into her practice at home and school, and speaks on how it has benefited both children and staff.
Her learnings from Destination Happiness have had a positive impact on the kindergarteners as well as their grade 5 buddies from Leopold Primary School in their JellyPold program, who practice kindness with the kindergarteners, help their development in reading and writing, and ease their transition into primary school.
Geelong mayor Stephanie Asher said early childhood educators did a fantastic job in building the foundations of lifelong learning and wellbeing for the region’s children.
“Well done Michelle Travers for your dedication in implementing these positive tools and methods, that have inspired the children to practice now and into the future.”
In addition to speaking with Ms Travers on her achievements and programs at the kinder, Ms Hilton surprised the JellyPold buddy program with a “Random Act of Happiness” – a special performance from the Mik Maks.
This episode of Destination Happiness aired at the weekend, but an extended version is on the series’ YouTube channel.
Destination Happiness airs Saturdays at noon on Channel 9, and Sundays at 10am on 9 Life.
