Tyrrell joins Sacrededge line-up this weekend

May 2, 2018 BY

Aine Tyrrell will share her story about domestic violence this weekend at Sacrededge.

PERFOMER Aine Tyrrell will return to Queenscliff Uniting Church this weekend for its annual Sacrededge festival.

Aine will be the feature artist on the Friday evening, as well as presenting her story as part of a workshop on survival on the Saturday.

She will share her story “Dream a new Dream” which moves from domestic violence to “being myself again after so many years of being lost”.

Sacrededge, which runs from May 4-6 (this weekend), celebrates diversity, ecology and spirituality.

The presenters, artists and performers come from a variety of backgrounds – Indigenous, refugee, LGBTIQ people, carers for the earth.

Muzafar Ali, whose story is featured in the documentary The Staging Post, will also join the Refugee Panel on Sunday.

Muzafar worked as a photographer and interpreter with the UN in Afghanistan before escaping to Indonesia with his extended family – he is studying to be a social worker in Adelaide.

The Staging Post follows two Afghan Hazara refugees, Muzafar and Khadim.

Stuck in Indonesia after Australia “stopped the boats” and facing many years in limbo, they built a community and started the school which inspired a refugee education revolution.

Day, evening and weekend tickets are still available for the festival.
