GEELONG Football Umpires League and Metricon are celebrating two decades of nurturing the next generation of grassroots football in 2025.
This year, the two parties celebrate 20 years of fostering community sport side by side.
More than 200 umpires will pull their socks up, wave their flags and use their whistle across different local football competitions this year.

All of them will have Metricon branding on their umpire uniforms, while local grounds will also feature signage.
Geelong Football Umpires League chair David Chaston praised Metricon’s long commitment to the league’s success.
“Their ongoing support has been pivotal in recruiting, training, and developing umpires at all levels.

“Thanks to Metricon, we can continue to uphold high officiating standards and ensure the best possible experience for players, coaches, and fans.”
Among the key focuses for the season will be enhanced ruck contest interpretations, and a zero-tolerance policy for off field misconduct.

Metricon’s regional west manager Simon Taylor said the company was proud to have reached the major milestone.
“Umpires play a vital role in the integrity and spirit of the game, and we’re honoured to stand by them year after year
“This sponsorship doesn’t just support the league – it strengthens the entire football community, including our staff, tradespeople, and customers who are actively involved in local clubs.”
