Unauthorised waste dumped at lighthouse reserve
THE Point Lonsdale Civic Association (PLCA) is asking residents to keep a lookout for any trucks dumping unauthorised waste at the Point Lonsdale Lighthouse Reserve.
The PLCA stated that members had been alerted by a nearby resident that there had been large trucks that had made a few unauthorised dumps during the past week.
“We have just been alerted by a close nearby resident, that unauthorised Green Waste dumping has been taking place at the Point Lonsdale Lighthouse Reserve,” the group stated.
“There has been a stockpile of waste being collected and aggregating at the PLLHR by the Green Army who are undertaking Vegetation Management works.
“This has been a normal part of the works there, and the Borough of Queenscliffe are aware of this.
“This is scheduled to be taken away soon.”
However, the PLCA said several large trucks that were not the Borough’s authorised contractor, or the Green Army, had been dumping additional unauthorised waste.
“What is a concern is that this waste composition may/may not be green waste, and the fire hazard danger it presents.
“Therefore, please keep a look out for any unauthorised dumping on the site, if you see any trucks on the PLLHR site dumping waste, please take down the registration number/details and phone the Borough immediately on 5258 1377 and report this activity.”
The group warned not to approach the dumpers/trucks as they became quite agitated when approached initially by the resident that noticed the dumping.
