Upgrades under way in Barwon Heads

WORKS have begun to replace the access track and staircase linking the Barwon Heads Caravan Park to the Barwon Heads promenade.

This follows recent safety access audits, which identified the staircase as a high priority for upgrades.

Closures will be in place for around one month while the staircase is replaced with a new, safer design that includes stainless steel handrails.

The gravel track will also be widened and re-sheeted towards the At the Heads restaurant.

“These works are part of a co-ordinated program of improvements in the area, including the new riverfront cabins and other visitor facility upgrades,” Barwon Coast stated.

Locals and visitors are asked to stay clear of the work zone while heavy machinery is in use.

Access along the promenade will remain unless temporarily closed for safety.
