Use It or Lose It campaign underway after launch success
NORTHERN Bellarine residents have shown strong support for the ‘Use It or Lose It’ campaign, which is now underway, after a successful launch in Portarlington.
The Portarlington Ukulele Collective entertained a large crowd at the launch, which was also attended by Bellarine Ward Councillor Jim Mason.
The campaign has been organised by the Northern Bellarine Transport Action Group (NBTAG) to support their vision of a strong and accessible bus service for the townships of Portarlington, Indented Head and St Leonards.
“It’s clear from the great turnout and supportive feedback that public transport is a cause the community are willing to get behind,” Ken Foxcroft from NBTAG said.
“The good news is that it’s easy for people to have their say – all they have to do is get on the bus.”
More than 70 locals have already signed up for the ‘Car Free Challenge’, which will see them swap four of their usual car trips with bus trips during the months of May and June.
All participants taking part in the challenge have a chance to win one of eight $100 myki cards to help them keep using public transport.
The campaign will continue over May and June, with locals being encouraged to sign up for the challenge and increase their bus use during this time.
They can do so by emailing [email protected].
