Victorian Sport Award nominations open soon

THE 2023 Victorian Sport Awards (VPAs) are back, recognising and celebrating those who have made an outstanding contribution to sport in Victoria.

Nominations for the VPAs opened on Monday, February 5 and are presented by the Victorian government.

The annual awards will celebrate those across all levels of sport throughout 2023, from across regional and metropolitan areas.

Vic Sport chief executive officer Lisa Hasker said they are looking for nominations statewide to recognise those who have contributed to sport in Victoria.

“The Victorian Sport Awards are important to highlight great performances and service in Victorian sport each year,” she said.

“The awards cover all parts of Victorian sport including athlete performance, volunteer service, coach and officials service and performances by masters and junior athletes.”

Nominations for the awards open on February 5 and close on March 1, of the 19 awards 18 will be open for nominations.

The State Government Outstanding Contribution to Victorian Sport award will honour a lifetime achievement in Victorian sport.

Friends, families, teammates, sporting clubs, organisations and associates are encouraged to nominate those making contributions.

Finalists will be announced in April, and the winner will be revealed on June 12 in the Victory room at Marvel stadium, where all finalists, along with their family, friends, sporting organisations and clubs are invited to attend.

The voting panel will be made up of Olympians, former athletes and Victorian sport administrators.
