A LOCAL Leopold-based women’s group has launched in support for disadvantaged children in the Greater Geelong region. The group is the newest Bellarine branch of National volunteer organisation Voice, Interests and Education of Women (VIEW), making it the fifth VIEW club in the region.

In keeping with the VIEW vision, VIEW Leopold is committed to building on the organisation’s support of The Smith Family, a non-profit supporting over 1520 students across the country through the Learning for Life program.

President of VIEW Leopold Linda Morse said the club’s mission is to empower and encourage women to make changes in societal attitudes, and to have an informed voice on issues impacting the health of Australian society. “We provide a safe environment in which women may be heard and their ideas valued,” Morse said.

“Leopold VIEW Club will work with The Smith Family to support the education of vulnerable children by giving them a hand up, not a handout.”

Morse said new members are always welcome.

“The VIEW Club meetings are a great opportunity for women to make new friends.

“The new Leopold VIEW Club was thrilled by the support received from other VIEW Clubs and the community, and there was a wonderful vibe surrounding our recent Inauguration.”

On Tuesday March 14 the Club’s inauguration took place with lunch at The Leopold Sportsman Club. Ongoing meetings are held on the second Tuesday of the month at 10.30am at the Lepold Sportsmans Club, Kensington Rd Leopold.
