MEMBERS from the Bellarine North Rotary have come together for a community plating day in St Leonards as they look to give back to the local community.

The goal of the day was to enhance the natural environment and remove invasive weeds that threaten the local ecosystem.

Funding from the Victorian Government’s Port Phillip Bay Fund made the day possible, while Bellarine Bayside provided support in organising the weeding and planting initiatives.

Students from St Ignatius College also got involved with members of the St Leonards Volunteer group who all chipped in throughout the day and contributed to its success.

Volunteers also had the weather on their side as they went about their day working in groups and demonstrating what can be accomplished when community groups unite.

Planting in the area helps to restore natural ecosystems, strengthen biodiversity, and boost coastal resilience.

Bellarine North Rotary Club is often looking for ways to give back to the local community through both hands-on volunteer efforts and financial contributions.

Bellarine Bayside runs community planting days throughout the year, guiding volunteers in planting native vegetation, helping stabilise dunes, support wildlife habitats and improve biodiversity.
