Berry good fun at Wallington Strawberry Fair

WALLINGTON Primary School opened their gates on Sunday for the 40th annual Strawberry Fair, with thousands arriving to devour over 50,000 strawberries prepared the day
before.

Event organiser and teacher Amy Boland said the day was another “huge success” for the school with fabulous weather, fantastic entertainment and variety on offer.

“The weather was definitely in our favour. The entertainment on the main stage was popular throughout the day and it was great seeing live local talent showcased in this way; Christian College bands, GSODA and Theatre of the Damned were crowd favourites.

“The animal nursery, face painting, rides and show bags were a big hit with the younger visitors while the Devonshire tea, pavlovas and choc dipped strawberries were a favourite across all the age groups.

“There were such a great variety of market stalls to peruse and the Barwon Water site was kept busy rehydrating our visitors.”

Ms Boland said organisers wanted to thank everyone who attended the fair and the wider community who generously donated their time, products and services.

“Lastly to our Wallington staff and families who work tirelessly not just on the day but for months in the lead up to the fair.

“It is such a testament to the commitment of these people, without whom the Strawberry Fair would not be celebrating its 40th year and still being such a well-loved annual event.”
