THE Lions Portarlington Community Market will depart from its traditional Sunday slot, gearing up for a unique Wednesday showcase on December 27, in response to the holiday season’s festive schedule.

This month’s market, boasting over 160 stalls, will feature Bellarine wine and other alcohol producers, providing tastings and sales for the first time.

Market co-ordinator Stephen Love expressed excitement about the day’s prospects.

“Many people will come for the market and then explore the Bellarine,” Mr Love said.

“There are lots of things to see and do, from the Grand Hotel, to vineyards, to golf clubs, and of course the beach.

“There’s much to look forward to with about 160 sites, including first-time local wine and other liquor traders,” Mr Love said.

Additionally, the market will feature a food court showcasing local and regional produce.

Mr Love described the market’s location as ideal, offering spectacular bay views and proximity to the town centre.

While Mr Love, as market co-ordinator, remained impartial about his favourite stall, he admitted a general fondness for the Lions BBQ among club members.

Proceeds from the market are allocated to community projects and Lions initiatives.

A portion of this year’s earnings will also support flood relief efforts in Queensland.

The monthly market is typically held from 9am to 2pm on the fourth Sunday of each month, from September to April, at the W.G Little Reserve.
