NEW A-League club Western United proved a force to be reckoned with in their 1-1 tie with Western Sydney Wanderers during a practice match in Geelong on Saturday.

The team drew a strong number of fans in green and black to the game at GMHBA Stadium as they booted a warning to the league’s line-up that they should not be underestimated as a side.

United forward Scott McDonald was the first to score, while Wanderers’ Mo Adam shot the equaliser inside the box after half time.

Western United will play their home games at GMHBA Stadium while their stadium is being built. Their first home fixture will be in round 2, against reigning premiers Perth Glory on October 19 at 5pm.
