Winter storms affect the northern Bellarine
THE onset of the annual winter storms have begun to affect the northern Bellarine coastline.
The northerly winds, in conjunction with high tides, have affected coastal assets and caused erosion at a number of sites along the coast.
One such site is at Anderson Reserve in Indented Head, where a section of timber sea wall was undermined, resulting in severe erosion of the walking track behind it.
Bellarine Bayside works crews undertook immediate remedial action by positioning large granite boulders behind the sea wall which has stemmed the erosion.
The boulders will remain in place until the weather calms and the sea wall can be properly repaired and reinstated.
Several small sections of the coastal trail between Indented Head and St Leonards have been damaged, which will be repaired once the weather abates.
If using the trail, the public should keep an eye out for damage and report it to Bellarine Bayside at [email protected].
