Work planned for St Leonards boat ramp
State agency Better Boating Victoria (BBV) has released a pre-design survey to gather community input to improve the Bellarine boat ramp.
BBV said key issues previously raised about the ramp included a need for improved parking, a lack of shelter, safety concerns during inclement weather and limited depth at low tide.
The area currently has a four-lane, concrete boat ramp for users and a timber jetty that is popular with fishers.
BBV indicated that existing facilities needed a boost to continue serving the needs of the community.
“Due to the increasing demand and popularity of the facility, it has been prioritised to investigate upgrade options to increase the capacity and improve the functionality of the boat ramp,” the agency said.
A short, six-question survey is available online for users, locals and visitors to outline current challenges, suggested improvements and important elements to preserve.
BBV has invited recreational boaters, fishers and members of the broader community to complete the survey.
Consultation closes on April 26.
