Workshops create any piece jewellery you could wish for

TWEENS, teens and women put their creativity and design skills into action during a jewellery-making workshop in Drysdale at the weekend.

Kristin Wishart, the owner of Wishart Creative, ran two workshops at Artisans of Australia on Saturday, where each participant got to choose four pieces to design and create from a range of accessories, including necklaces, rings, keyrings, bracelets and hypoallergenic earrings.

Kristin said the entire process was designed to encourage participants to use their creativity and personality to guide them into creating their own, unique jewellery.

“Early last year I took the plunge and rented myself a little studio space at the amazing Artisans of Australia in Drysdale and ran my first, ever, face-to-face jewellery making workshops,” she said.

“After my first one I knew it was for me and I thrived on teaching tweens, teens and women to create beautiful, one-of-a-kind accessories simply using scraps of preloved fabrics.”

But Kristin said within a few weeks, COVID hit and she had no choice but to adapt to the new climate and start running her workshops virtually via Zoom instead.

“Whilst they all went very well, there is nothing like creating with people face-to-face, which is why I am so excited to be back here running them again, in person,” she said.

Kristin said since COVID, Artisans of Australia had moved into a brand new building in Drysdale, making it even more exciting.

“The space is beautiful, light and airy with a gift shop, art gallery, classrooms and spacious studios for artists to work from,” she said.

“Within a few weeks it is also set to have its own cafe with locally supplied teas, coffees and cakes.

“The entire concept is amazing and I am so thrilled to be involved.”

Kristin said she already had courses, workshops and school holiday classes lined up and ready to go, including Bizzy Kids, her six-week course guiding and supporting tweens and teens to create their own jewellery business.
