Writers event in Port celebrates organisation’s big milestone
WRITERS Victoria is coming to Portarlington later this month as part of a regional program to celebrate its 30th anniversary.
The writers’ event on September 21 will be held in partnership with the Portarlington Neighbourhood House and sponsored by the Grace Marion Wilson Trust at the Bayview Room, Parks Hall.
Author Fiona Lowe will facilitate a writers’ workshop from 10.30am to 1.30pm, covering the techniques of structure and plot, creating dynamic characters and how to show not tell your story.
The well-known author has written 34 books and is the recipient of the prestigious USA RITA award and the Australian RuBY award.
She will be joined in the afternoon from 2.30pm to 4pm when authors Anna Snoekstra, Robert Gott and Angela Meyer will discuss their books.
Anna Snoekstra is the bestselling author of crime novels Only Daughter, Little Secrets and The Spite Game.
She recently released her first book for young adults, Mercy Point.
She also teaches storytelling at RMIT University.
Robert Gott is the author of 97 books, both fiction and non-fiction.
He has written seven crime novels, two of which have been shortlisted for the Ned Kelly Award for Best Crime Fiction.
He is also the creator of the long-running newspaper cartoon, The Adventures of Naked Man. His latest novel is The Autumn Murders.
Angela Meyer has been widely published in newspapers and journals and is a commissioning editor for Echo Publishing.
Her debut novel is A Superior Spectre.
