XTM’s miracle Merino masks
Face masks are the new re-usable shopping bag during the coronavirus lockdown, and interest is spiking in re-usable and sustainable facewear and neckwear.
XTM Performance, a Torquay-based company, had the products on offer ahead of the pandemic for snow and outdoor enthusiasts, but the facewear and neckwear is still selling well despite no-one heading to the slopes this year.
XTM has a range of multi-use (non-medical grade) facewear, including products that are made using Australian Merino wool, which is anti-microbial, odour-resistant and breathable.
“We love using Aussie Merino,” XTM’s Aly Lamb said. “It’s non-itch, it’s amazing… it’s pretty much a miracle fibre, which is why it’s in our face masks, but we also have polyester facemasks if you don’t want that option.”
All facewear – including multi-snoods, balaclavas, neckwarmers, neckbands and neck tubes – is washable and re-usable, to improve sustainability and cut down on landfill.
Aly said she had different types of face masks for different sorts of activities.
“I have my exercise and walking the dog mask, which is my XTM neck tube, because it’s really breathable and you can pull it down easy. But when I go to the shops, I wear an over-the-ear face mask because you don’t take it on and off so much.”
As well as face masks, XTM is still selling its full range of snow and outdoor products online, including puffer jackets, rainwear, socks and gloves.
