Your canvas is our fundraiser

Artists from Portarlington to Bellbrae took part in last year’s Blank Canvas Art Show.

THE walls at Ocean Grove’s Driftwood Café will be adorned with donated art and photographs this Easter as the venue hosts the third annual Blank Canvas Art Show.

With support from the Bellarine arts community and Greens volunteers last year, more than 150 entries were sold to help raise in excess of $2,500 for two Bellarine reforestation projects.

One thousand dollars was donated to the Bellarine Catchment Network to plant trees along the Bellarine Rail Trail, with a further $1,600 donated and matched by the City of Greater Geelong to plant 500-600 trees on Ocean Grove’s Lake Avenue Reserve.

This year’s theme “The Beautiful Bellarine” is offering three categories of entry – open, 13 and under and photography.

While the competition began on March 1, people with a passion for creative expression are encouraged to enter.

Those interested in participating can pick up an 8×10 canvas and entry form from Driftwood for $2.

Photographers will need to supply their own frames and/or canvases in order to take part.

All entries must be returned to Driftwood by April 1 to be displayed over the Easter school holidays, but late entries will be accepted before the artworks are hung on April 6.

The Art Show hoped to throw a poetry slam and live music event at the venue on April 16, but organisers have advised this has been postponed until further notice.
