Barwon Heads cottage smashes reserve in Zoom auction
Two bidders battled it out over a Zoom auction to be the new owner of a cottage in Barwon Heads, with the property selling under the hammer for $1,470,000.
Bellarine Property director Levi Turner said it was a fantastic result for the three-bedroom home on a generous block at 12 Heron Crescent which achieved $220,000 above the reserve which was set at $1,250,000.
“We handed out nine contracts and had good interest from a range of buyers,” Mr Turner said.
“When lockdown six was announced we decided to proceed with the auction using Zoom.
“We wanted to create the open, transparent and competitive environment an onsite auction has, and we thought Zoom provided that.
“It was a great process and outcome for all involved.”
He said eight potential buyers registered for the auction, but it came down to two buyers who “duked it out from the start”.
“The successful buyer was a young family moving down from Melbourne that plan on building their family home,” he said.
